I’ve been fascinated with jewelry ever since I was a little girl. My exceptionally stylish and colorful grandmother had an entire closet devoted solely to her amazing jewelry collection. To a three-year-old it was a treasure chest of precious jewels and I thought it was the most magical place in the world! Every time I visited my grandmother I got to play dress up in all of the baubles and she always let me take a favorite piece home.
Natalie Mingura Jewelry officially began in my apartment in 2001. Since then I have devoted myself to making jewelry as a full time passion and business. I currently sell my jewelry to boutiques across the country. Once a year I travel back to my roots in Mexico, working with silversmiths in the hillside town of Taxco to create new designs. This is the story behind my logo: I love birds! They are so amazing to watch and I like imagining what far off places and journeys they have returned from. In poetry birds represent the soul aspiring upwards, flying free from the restraints of the earth. I find the peacock to be the most beautiful and enchanting of all birds. They symbolize various things to different cultures including success, dignity, knowledge, self-assurance, and pride. I chose the peacock to represent my jewelry line because of its mysterious and distinctive jewel-toned iridescent color. I was also drawn to the peacock because it embodies the expression of one's own beauty. We all express and see beauty in different ways and different things. Beauty can be seen in a smile, an act of kindness or a piece of art. The peacock reminds me to keep an eye open to all of the diverse ways beauty is expressed in the world.
